An example of very rare jade, greenstone, dark green with splatterings of bright light blue. Unique, one-of-a-kind pounamu – nephrite jade sourced from a tributary by the Pelours River, top of the South, New Zealand. Pounamu has a cultural significance, is believed that carvings embody the spirits of ancestors and enhance the life of the wearer. The toki (adze) historically were made for woodworking, tattoo, ceremony and represents strength, knowledge and completion.
