Toki Pounamu

Description

Inanga Pounamu, nephrite jade. The name “Inanga” directly translates to “whitebait” in Māori, referring to the small freshwater fish that the stone’s colour and translucence mimic. It is believed to carry the mauri (life force) of the land and the people who have touched it. The Inanga Pounamu was sourced on whanau (family) land in the Nelson/Marlborough rohe (area).

This Toki (adze) is a contemporary style with many subtle angles. Toki represents strength, knowledge and completion.
