Aotea Toki

Description

Aotea Stone is a very rare blend of Kyanite, Fuchsite and Quartz. It is found in one area in South Westland, South Island, New Zealand. In Maori culture, Aotea stone is a significant cultural taonga and is now protected. It has a blue to turquois tone in colour, it can be translucent or opaque depending on how well the crystals are blended. It is not extremely hard as far as semi-precious and precious stones go but good specimens have a tight matrix and can be easily carved even to the point of adding fine details. Aotea stone is believed to fostering healing, emotional balance, and a deep connection to nature.

This large Toki has a ribbon design in the shape of a Whale tail. The whale tail reflects our deep connection to the ocean, embodying the whale’s power, intelligence, and grace. It serves as a spiritual guide, offering direction and support through life’s journeys.
