Niho Pounamu

Description

Stunning Nelson jade sourced up the Wairoa River, Tasman, New Zealand. The type of nephrite is called Dark Inanga and is named after our native juvenile fish (whitebait). Niho – Tooth, a symbol of  strength and courage with connections to the moana (ocean) and its qualities of endurance. This fluid niho is carved on both sides, deep convex on the back making the piece a balanced wear with a symmetrical koru face representing new beginnings, growth and harmony.
